Afgelopen weekend, 13 januari 2016, mochten we alweer onze vierde verjaardag vieren. En het was dubbel feest, want niet alleen gingen er vier kaarsjes op de taart, maar ook hebben we het internationale zusje van Taalvoutjes gelanceerd: Misteaks (spreek uit: misteeks, niet: mistieks). Taalvoutjes-oprichters Inger Hollebeek en Vellah Bogle: “We krijgen al zo lang als dat Taalvoutjes bestaat, foto’s ingezonden van fans die op vakantie in het buitenland grappige fouten spotten. Verrassend genoeg bestaat er op internationaal niveau nog geen platform als Taalvoutjes. Maar taalhumor is niet voorbehouden aan Nederlanders: ook Engelstaligen kunnen er wat van. We hopen met Misteaks nog veel meer mensen wereldwijd aan het lachen te krijgen (en stiekem ook bewuster met taal om te laten gaan).”
Dat Misteaks dezelfde potentie heeft als Taalvoutjes, bleek wel uit het enthousiasme waarmee het zusje ontvangen is. Waar Taalvoutjes inmiddels meer dan 426.000 fans dagelijks aan het lachen krijgt, wist Misteaks binnen een dag 5.000 volgers te verzamelen. De pagina is – net als Taalvoutjes – actief op Facebook, Twitter en Instagram en licht zowel echte taalfouten uit als communicatiemissers en dubbelzinnigheden.
